Vans joins forces with three-time Grammy award-winning artist Anderson .Paak, welcoming both AP’s first sneaker collaboration and his appointment to the brand as it’s first Global Music Ambassador. Inspired in part by his Southern-Californian roots, as well as his critically-acclaimed albums Venice and Malibu, the two-piece footwear assortment features the Old Skool DX and Sid DX silhouettes.

The first half of the assortment, the Old Skool DX, comes courtesy of Anderson .Paak’s debut album, Venice, and the vibrancy of SoCal. The Old Skool DX features a psychedelic canvas upper, with both 3D and digitally printed overlapping waves of neon blue, pink, and red. Further details are found at the multicoloured eyelets, alongside translucent accents at the classic side stripe using turquoise vinyl and at the waffle outsole, which is finished in lime green rubber.

Completing the other half of the pack, the Sid DX comes inspired by his breakthrough 2016 album, Malibu, and the abstract arrangement of colours and motifs found on the album’s artwork. The Sid DX features a stark white upper with black chenille accents embroidered in a psychedelic wave pattern. Pop accents of apple green are then found at the mid foots Flying-V logo, as well at the translucent waffle outsole. Both sneakers are then finished with Vans’ classic cream midsole, Anderson .Paak’s signature catchphrase “Yes Lawd” printed at the rear liner, as well as a dust bag matching each sneakers theme.

Both pairs available in-store Friday (Nov 13) and remaining pairs will be available online next week.

Men sizes 8-12 (no 11.5); $140 + tax.
